Omira is a traditional dairy brand with deep roots in the Upper Swabia region of Germany. Established originally as a cooperative by local farmers, the brand gained significant recognition for its high-quality milk and specialized cream products. It became particularly well-known for its 'MinusL' line, which pioneered the lactose-free dairy market in Europe, catering to consumers with dietary sensitivities.

In 2017, the brand underwent a significant transition in ownership. The operational business of Omira was acquired by the French dairy giant Lactalis. Despite this change in corporate ownership, the brand maintains its local heritage by continuing to source much of its raw milk from southern German farmers. Today, Omira operates as a major subsidiary within the international Lactalis portfolio, combining traditional German dairy craftsmanship with the global distribution and resource network of one of the world's largest dairy corporations.
