Gevalia Mellanrost Gold instant coffee

Gevalia is one of the most iconic coffee brands in Scandinavia, particularly in Sweden and Denmark. Founded in 1853 by Victor Theodor Engwall in Gävle, Sweden, the brand grew from a small trading business into the largest coffee roastery in Scandinavia. Its name is derived from the Latin name for the city of Gävle.

Today, Gevalia is no longer a locally owned Swedish company. Following several corporate mergers and acquisitions, the brand is currently owned by JDE Peet's, a global coffee powerhouse headquartered in the Netherlands. JDE Peet's was formed through the merger of Jacobs Douwe Egberts and Peet's Coffee. Production for the Nordic market remains highly active, with roasting facilities in Gävle (Sweden), although many instant coffee products are manufactured in large-scale facilities in Germany to serve the international market.
