Paulaner Weissbier / Paulaner Beer

Paulaner is one of Germany's most prestigious and historic breweries, founded in 1634 by the Minim friars of the Neudeck ob der Au monastery in Munich. The brand belongs to the exclusive group of six breweries authorized to serve beer at the world-famous Munich Oktoberfest. Historically, the beer was brewed for the monks' own consumption and as a source of nutrition during Lent, gaining public popularity over the centuries.

Today, Paulaner is celebrated globally for its high-quality wheat beers (Weissbier) and traditional Munich lagers. All Paulaner beers are brewed in Munich in strict accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) of 1516, which mandates that only water, malt, hops, and yeast be used in the brewing process. This commitment to tradition ensures that the manufacturing remains rooted in its original home in Bavaria.

Ownership of the brand is managed through the Paulaner Brauerei Gruppe GmbH & Co. KGaA. This entity is a joint venture between the Schörghuber Unternehmensgruppe, which holds a majority stake, and the Dutch brewing giant Heineken N.V. This strategic partnership allows Paulaner to maintain its traditional brewing heritage while leveraging a global distribution network.
