Originally created by massage therapist Juan Bautista Cendrós Carbonell at the Buenos Aires Barbershop, the brand became famous for its distinctive orange-colored 'The Genuine' aftershave splash and its classic barbershop scent.

While the brand originated in Spain, its ownership and production have transitioned over the decades. For a significant period, it was under the portfolio of Revlon. However, in recent years, the brand was acquired by the Italian Ludovico Martelli Group, the same company behind the famous Proraso brand. This acquisition shifted the brand's headquarters and primary manufacturing operations to Italy, where it continues to produce grooming products that maintain its vintage aesthetic while catering to modern skin care needs.
