HMD Global, which markets its products as HMD and under the Nokia license, is a prominent Finnish mobile phone manufacturer. The brand's origin is deeply rooted in Finland's telecommunication history, emerging as the successor to Nokia’s mobile hardware division after the brand's interim ownership by Microsoft.

Today, HMD designs and develops a range of smartphones and feature phones. While the research and development are headquartered in Espoo, Finland, the actual manufacturing is outsourced to global electronics giants, most notably FIH Mobile (a subsidiary of Foxconn). This manufacturing strategy utilizes large-scale facilities primarily located in China and Vietnam, though the company has also established assembly lines in India to serve the local market and diversify its supply chain.

Ownership of HMD Global is private, with significant backing from various investors including Foxconn's subsidiary FIH Mobile, Google, and Nokia Corporation. Despite the licensing agreement to use the Nokia brand, HMD operates as an independent entity, focusing on expanding its proprietary HMD-branded portfolio alongside legacy Nokia devices.
