Reschs DA, or Dinner Ale, is a classic Australian beer that has been a staple in New South Wales for over a century. The brand's origin dates back to 1897 when it was first brewed by Resch's Brewery in Sydney, founded by Edmund Resch. It quickly became known for its smooth, sessionable profile, distinct from the sharper lagers of the time.
Throughout the 20th century, the brand underwent significant ownership changes. It was initially acquired by Tooth and Co. in 1929 and later passed into the hands of Carlton & United Breweries (CUB). The brand has managed to retain a cult following in Australia, particularly among older generations and craft beer enthusiasts who appreciate its historical prestige.
Currently, the Reschs brand is owned by Asahi Holdings (Australia), which is part of the Japanese multinational Asahi Group Holdings. While ownership is now international, the beer continues to be brewed and produced within Australia to maintain its traditional local taste and heritage.
