Raleigh is one of the oldest and most iconic bicycle brands in the world, founded in 1887 in Nottingham, England. The brand quickly grew to become the largest bicycle manufacturer globally during the early 20th century, known for its durable steel-framed commuters and professional racing bikes used in the Tour de France.

While the brand's heritage is deeply rooted in British engineering, manufacturing shifted away from the United Kingdom in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Today, Raleigh bicycles are primarily manufactured through global supply chains in Asian hubs such as Taiwan, China, and Vietnam, where specialized facilities handle the production of modern aluminum, carbon fiber, and electric bike frames.

The ownership of Raleigh has evolved significantly over the decades. Since 2012, Raleigh has been a part of Accell Group, a major player in the European bicycle industry. Accell Group was subsequently acquired by a consortium led by KKR, ensuring the brand remains under a parent company with a vast portfolio of cycling brands focused on innovation and sustainable urban mobility.
