Taffel is a leading Nordic savory snack brand with a history dating back to 1969 when the first potato chip factory in Finland was established on the Åland Islands by Chips Ab Suomi. Founded by visionaries Knut Mattson, Lars Mattson, and Pehr-Olof Böckelman, the brand quickly became a cultural staple in Finland, later expanding its footprint across the Baltic states.

Today, Taffel's production is primarily concentrated in two main facilities: the original factory in Haraldsby, Åland (Finland), and a significant production center in Ādaži, Latvia. These plants supply various markets including Estonia, Lithuania, and Scandinavia. Ownership of the brand transitioned to the Norwegian conglomerate Orkla ASA in 2005, following Orkla's acquisition of the parent company Chips Abp. As of 2026, Taffel remains a core part of Orkla's Confectionery & Snacks division, benefiting from the group's extensive regional distribution and commitment to sustainable production practices.
