Marabou Bubbly Milk Chocolate

Marabou is one of Sweden's most iconic brands, originally founded in 1916 by the Norwegian chocolatier Johan Throne Holst. The brand was named after the marabou stork, which was the symbol of his original Norwegian company, Freia. Today, Marabou is widely recognized for its yellow packaging and smooth, creamy milk chocolate flavor that has become a staple in Nordic households.

Production primarily takes place at the historic factory in Upplands Väsby, Sweden, although some specific product lines may involve facilities in other European countries like Lithuania. While Marabou remains deeply Swedish in identity, it has been under international ownership for several decades. It was acquired in 1993 by Kraft General Foods, which later became Kraft Foods and was eventually spun off into Mondelēz International. As of 2026, Mondelēz International continues to own and manage the brand as part of its global snacks and confectionery portfolio.
