Marshall is one of the most iconic names in music history, recognized globally for its high-performance guitar amplifiers and 'the Marshall sound.' The brand was founded in 1962 in London, England, by Jim Marshall, who initially operated a drum shop and began building amplifiers to meet the specific needs of rock guitarists seeking a more aggressive, 'crunchy' tone.
While the premium 'Handwired' and flagship valve series are still manufactured at the historic factory in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, the brand has expanded its production footprint. More affordable entry-level series and lifestyle products, such as Bluetooth speakers and headphones, are primarily manufactured in Asia, specifically Vietnam and China.
In a landmark move for the brand's history, the Marshall family sold the majority of Marshall Amplification to its long-time Swedish licensing partner, Zound Industries, in 2023. This merger created the Marshall Group, which now oversees both the traditional musical instrument division and the rapidly growing consumer electronics segment, ensuring the brand remains a dominant force in both professional audio and lifestyle tech.
