Sensodyne is a globally recognized oral health brand specifically designed for people with sensitive teeth. It was originally launched by Block Drug in 1961, an American company based in Brooklyn, New York. The brand's innovation focused on creating a formula that could effectively desensitize tooth nerves.
Over the decades, ownership shifted as corporate landscapes changed. In 2001, Block Drug was acquired by the British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). More recently, in 2022, GSK spun off its consumer healthcare division into a new independent entity named Haleon. As of 2026, Haleon continues as the ultimate owner, managing the brand from its headquarters in Weybridge, United Kingdom. While the brand is British-owned, manufacturing occurs in various global facilities including locations in the UK, USA, and Continental Europe to meet regional demand.
