Maarud Classic Salt potato chips

Maarud is one of the most iconic snack brands in Norway, with a heritage dating back to the late 1920s when it was founded at the Maarud farm in Disenå. The brand is synonymous with the development of the potato chip industry in Scandinavia, having established its first industrial production line for crisps in the region after WWII. Throughout its history, Maarud became a cultural staple in Norwegian households, famous for its "M-m-m-m... Maarud!" slogan.

Today, the brand's primary manufacturing facility remains in Disenå, Norway, where it processes locally grown potatoes into a wide variety of snacks. While it was once an independent family-owned venture and later part of various conglomerates like Kraft Foods, it has since been integrated into a larger pan-European snack portfolio.

Currently, Maarud is a flagship brand under the Estrella Maarud Group. This group is owned by Intersnack Group, a German-based multinational that is one of the largest snack producers in Europe. The acquisition of Maarud by Intersnack has allowed the brand to maintain its local Norwegian identity and production facilities while benefiting from the extensive distribution and R&D resources of a global snack giant.
