Barbapapa is a world-renowned children's media franchise that originated in France in the early 1970s. Created by Annette Tison and Talus Taylor, the characters are known for their ability to shapeshift. The brand has expanded from books into animation and various consumer products globally.
While the original creative IP stems from France, the production and distribution of physical books like 'Bondegården' (The Farm) depend on regional publishers. In this instance, the Danish edition is published by Politikens Børnebøger, a part of JP/Politikens Hus. Like much of the global publishing industry, printing is often outsourced to international facilities in Europe and Asia, particularly China. The underlying licensing for the Barbapapa brand is managed by TF1 Licensing and the rights holders in France.
