OLX Marketplace

OLX (OnLine eXchange) was founded in 2006 by entrepreneurs Fabrice Grinda and Alec Oxenford. Originally launched as a competitor to Craigslist for the international market, it quickly became a dominant player in emerging economies, particularly in India, Brazil, and parts of Europe.

The platform operates as a global consumer-to-consumer (C2C) marketplace, allowing users to buy and sell everything from electronics and furniture to cars and real estate. Unlike physical goods, its 'manufacturing' refers to its digital infrastructure and software development, which is managed globally with significant hubs in Europe and South Asia.

Today, OLX is part of the OLX Group, which is owned by Prosus, the international internet assets division of the South African multinational Naspers. Prosus is headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and is one of the largest technology investors in the world, overseeing a massive portfolio of e-commerce and fintech companies.
