Axel Arigato was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2014 by Albin Johansson and Max Svärdh. The brand established itself in the luxury streetwear market by utilizing a unique 'Drop-of-the-Week' model, which bypassed traditional seasonal collections to build a digital-first community. Their design philosophy combines Scandinavian minimalism with playful contemporary details, quickly gaining international acclaim for their signature Clean 90 and Genesis sneaker lines.

While the brand's creative heart remains in Sweden, the manufacturing of their high-end footwear is primarily concentrated in Portugal to leverage the country's expertise in premium leather craftsmanship. As the brand has expanded into apparel and accessories, production has also extended to specialized facilities in Turkey and Vietnam.
