Golden Key (Zolotoy Klyuchik) Toffee

Zolotoy Klyuchik, popularly known as Golden Key, is one of the most iconic confectionery brands from the Soviet era, specifically recognized for its distinct rectangular toffee (iris) candies. The brand was originally created in the Soviet Union during the mid-20th century under the state-run confectionery system. Its name and imagery are inspired by the famous Russian children's fairy tale 'The Golden Key, or the Adventures of Buratino' by Aleksey Tolstoy.

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the rights to many classic 'Soviet' candy brands were consolidated. Today, the Golden Key brand is a flagship label under the United Confectioners (Obedinennye Konditery) holding. It is primarily manufactured by the historic Red October (Krasny Oktyabr) factory in Moscow, though production may occur at other facilities within the group. The product remains a staple of Eastern European confectionery culture, maintaining its traditional recipe and nostalgic packaging.
