MapperStash digital platform

MapperStash was a specialized digital platform and community hub dedicated to the 'mapping' subculture—a niche of online content creators who use map-based visuals to simulate historical or fictional geopolitical scenarios. Founded on March 3, 2019, by an individual known as Colonial Mapper, the project was created to address the need for centralized resources such as map templates, textures, and assets that were previously scattered across various forums and wikis.

The project quickly expanded from a basic resource website to a significant Discord community, becoming the second-largest mapping server by early 2020. Throughout its brief operational history, the platform served as a vital onboarding tool for new creators, providing the technical assets necessary to produce high-quality mapping videos and animations. Despite its high user engagement, the platform faced numerous leadership transitions and was never successfully monetized.

Ownership transitioned from Colonial Mapper to a developer known as Sirius, under whose tenure the Discord server was abruptly deleted in May 2020. While the original MapperStash project is no longer active, its legacy persists through successor projects like Mapping Resources, which were established by former administrators to preserve the digital archive that MapperStash had curated during its peak.
