The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean series represents the premium segment of oral healthcare technology. Originally, the Sonicare brand was developed by the American dental health innovator Optiva Corporation, which introduced sonic technology to the toothbrush market in the early 1990s. The brand was later acquired to become a cornerstone of the Philips personal health portfolio.
While the technology and brand heritage are rooted in both the Netherlands and the United States, manufacturing is decentralized. Most contemporary Sonicare handles and charging accessories are manufactured in specialized electronics hubs in China, while some replacement brush heads and specific components are produced in European facilities or the USA to meet global demand.
Today, the brand is owned by Koninklijke Philips N.V. (Royal Philips), a global health technology leader headquartered in Amsterdam. The company focuses on clinical-grade consumer health products and high-end medical equipment, ensuring the Sonicare line remains at the forefront of dental hygiene innovation.
