The brand was originally founded in Delta, British Columbia, Canada, focusing on natural ingredients and traditional yogurt-making methods. The Krema range is specifically known for its high milk fat content (typically 9% to 11%, though this specific variant is labeled at 8%), offering a particularly thick and creamy texture.

In 2001, Olympic Dairy was acquired by Ultima Foods, which was a joint venture between the Canadian dairy cooperatives Agropur and Granby. Following further consolidation in the Canadian dairy industry, the brand is currently owned and managed by Agropur Cooperative. Agropur is one of the largest dairy cooperatives in North America and continues to manufacture Olympic products predominantly in British Columbia to serve the Canadian market.
