The brand was originally created by Buitoni, a famous Italian food group, to offer parents high-quality, safe, and affordable complementary food options for infants.

Today, Nipiol is manufactured in Italy, primarily at the production facilities in Latina. Over the years, ownership has transitioned through major global entities. It was part of the Kraft Heinz portfolio for several years until 2024, when the Newlat Food group, an Italian international leader in the agri-food sector, reached an agreement to acquire the Italian baby food business (including the iconic Plasmon and Nipiol brands). This acquisition marks a return to Italian ultimate ownership, ensuring the preservation of local production standards and traditional quality.
