Hass Avocado

The Hass avocado is the most popular variety of avocado globally, known for its pebbly skin and creamy texture. It was first grown and patented by Rudolph Hass in La Habra, California, in the 1930s. Unlike many commercial products with a single manufacturer, the Hass avocado is a biological variety grown by thousands of independent farmers across the globe.

Major production hubs include Mexico, which is the world's leading producer, as well as Peru, Chile, Colombia, and the United States (primarily California). Because it is a raw agricultural commodity, the 'ultimate owner' does not exist in a corporate sense; rather, the variety is now in the public domain and marketed by various global distributors and agricultural cooperatives.
