DKNY (Donna Karan New York) is an iconic fashion brand founded in 1989 in New York City. Created by designer Donna Karan, the brand was envisioned as a more accessible, younger, and urban-focused diffusion line to her mainline collection. It quickly became synonymous with the energy and spirit of New York style, offering everything from professional wear to casual essentials.
While the brand's creative heart remains in the United States, its manufacturing is globally distributed across countries such as China, Vietnam, India, and Indonesia to meet international demand. In 2001, the brand was acquired by the French luxury conglomerate LVMH. However, in 2016, it was sold to the American brand management firm G-III Apparel Group, which remains the parent company and ultimate owner today.
