Ryobi is a global brand with a complex history spanning multiple continents. Originally founded in Japan in 1943 as Ryobi Seisakusho Co., Ltd., the brand initially focused on die-cast products before expanding into power tools in the late 1960s.
Today, the Ryobi brand name is utilized by different entities depending on the product line and region. The power tools division visible in this image is owned and operated by Techtronic Industries (TTI), a Hong Kong-based multinational. TTI holds the global license for Ryobi power tools and outdoor equipment (except in Japan, where it is operated by Kyocera).
Manufacturing for Ryobi power tools is predominantly located in China, where TTI maintains massive vertically integrated production facilities. However, the company also operates assembly and manufacturing sites in other regions, including the United States and Vietnam, to serve global markets. The brand is well-known for its 'One+' and 'Max Power' battery systems, which are designed to be cross-compatible across hundreds of home and garden tools.
