Schweppes is a historic beverage brand originally founded in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1783 by Jacob Schweppe, who developed the first practical process for manufacturing bottled carbonated mineral water. The brand later moved its headquarters to London in 1792 to expand its operations. Over more than two centuries, Schweppes has become a global household name, famous for its tonic water, ginger ale, and a variety of flavored soft drinks like the Cream Soda pictured here.

In the Australian market, the Schweppes brand has a complex ownership and production history. For many decades, it was part of Cadbury Schweppes. Following the demerger of the global confectionery and beverage businesses, the Australian beverage arm was acquired by the Japanese conglomerate Asahi Group Holdings in 2009. Today, Schweppes products in Australia are manufactured locally by Asahi Beverages, utilizing domestic bottling facilities to supply the region. While the brand has Swiss roots and a British legacy, its current operational identity in Australia is guided by Japanese corporate ownership and local manufacturing.
