Pabst Blue Ribbon, commonly known as PBR, is an iconic American lager with a history dating back to 1844 when it was founded by Jacob Best in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The brand earned its famous name after winning a series of awards at world's fairs, leading the company to start tying silk blue ribbons around every bottle in the late 19th century.

While the brand is deeply rooted in American culture, it no longer operates its own breweries. In the United States, PBR is brewed under contract by Molson Coors. However, for international markets such as Australia, the manufacturing can vary; it is often imported from the United States or produced under license in other regions to ensure freshness.

Today, the brand is owned by the Pabst Brewing Company, which is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. The company was acquired in 2014 by Blue Ribbon Intermediate Holdings, LLC—a partnership between American beer entrepreneur Eugene Kashper and the private equity firm TSG Consumer Partners. It remains a privately held American company.
