Antares Solver

Antares (A New Tool for Adequacy Reporting of Electric Systems) is an open-source power system simulator developed by RTE (Réseau de Transport d'Électricité). Originally created in France to address the complexities of the European electricity market and generation adequacy, it has become a standard tool for power system studies and resource adequacy assessments.

The software is primarily developed and maintained in France by RTE, the French transmission system operator. While it is an open-source project available on platforms like GitHub, its core development and strategic direction are driven by French engineers and researchers. The software is used internationally by TSOs, regulators, and consultants to model multi-regional energy systems and optimize supply-demand balance under various scenarios, including the integration of renewable energy sources.
