Lipton is one of the world's most recognizable tea brands, famously originating in Scotland during the late 19th century. Founded by Sir Thomas Lipton, the brand revolutionized how tea was sold by making it accessible and affordable through innovative packaging and marketing. Today, Lipton offers a wide range of products including loose leaf, tea bags, and ready-to-drink or powdered iced teas like the lemon-flavored mix shown here.
The brand has undergone significant ownership changes recently. Historically part of Unilever's extensive portfolio, the tea business (excluding ready-to-drink bottled tea) was sold to CVC Capital Partners, which now operates as a standalone company called LIPTON Teas and Infusions. This new entity is headquartered in the Netherlands and remains the world's largest tea company. However, the ready-to-drink bottled beverages often remain under separate joint venture agreements with PepsiCo.
