The brand was famously launched in 2011 with the first batches made in a popcorn machine bought off eBay and flavored using a spray bottle. It quickly gained traction for its unique branding and focus on healthy, butterfly-corn snacking options.

Historically manufactured and based in the United Kingdom, the brand has grown from a start-up into a major player in the global snack market. In 2021, the company merged with Eat Real to form the 'Proper Tasty Group,' which was subsequently backed by the investment firm Exponent Private Equity. The brand has maintained a strong commitment to being B Corp certified, ensuring high social and environmental performance across its production lines.
