Kona is an iconic North American bicycle brand founded in 1988 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Ferndale, Washington. The brand is renowned for its diverse range of bicycles, with the Rove series being a pioneer in the 'gravel' category before it became a mainstream industry term. It is recognized for its adventurous spirit and focus on the bicycling lifestyle rather than purely professional racing.

While Kona handles design and engineering in North America, manufacturing is primarily outsourced to specialized facilities in Taiwan, the global hub for high-quality bicycle production. After a period of ownership by Kent Outdoors (2022–2024), Kona was successfully bought back by its original founders, Dan Gerhard and Jake Heilbron, in early 2024, returning the brand to its private, independent roots with a renewed focus on dealer relationships and community-driven products.
