Element is an iconic skateboarding brand that emerged in the early 1990s, initially founded as Underworld Element in Atlanta. The brand quickly gained international recognition for its commitment to the skateboarding community and its environmental ethos, symbolized by its tree logo represents the elements of wind, water, fire, and earth.
Over the decades, manufacturing has shifted from local production to a global network of specialized factories. Most Element apparel and footwear are currently produced in manufacturing hubs across Asia, South America, and Europe to meet global demand. Despite the change in production locations, the brand maintains its focus on durability and performance-oriented design.
Following a series of corporate acquisitions, Element was purchased by Boardriders, Inc. (formerly Quiksilver, Inc.). In 2023, the global brand management firm Authentic Brands Group acquired Boardriders, making it the ultimate owner of the Element brand. This strategic move places Element within a massive portfolio of lifestyle and performance brands, ensuring its continued distribution and presence in the global retail market.
