London Northwestern Railway is operated by West Midlands Trains Ltd. This operator is a joint venture predominantly owned by West Midlands Trains Limited (a consortium). As of current ownership structures into 2026, the primary owner is West Midlands Trains (West Midlands Trains Holding), which is a partnership involving Transport UK Group (formerly the UK subsidiary of Abellio) and Japanese partners Mitsui & Co. and East Japan Railway Company (JR East). This international collaboration ensures that UK rail expertise is combined with Japanese operational efficiency and technological investment.
