The brand's origin dates back to 1907 when Hans Thomi began selling mustard under the name Thomi's Senf in Langenthal, Switzerland. In 1930, the brand adopted the unique 'Thomy' spelling with a 'y' to make it more internationally recognizable and started packaging mustard in revolutionary aluminum tubes.

Today, Thomy is a major subsidiary of Nestlé. While it was originally a Swiss family business, its acquisition by the global food giant expanded its reach significantly. The products are predominantly manufactured in Basel, Switzerland, and in Neuss, Germany. The brand is famous for its strict purity standards and its iconic 'Thomy-Boy' mascot. It remains the market leader in several condiment categories in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
