Zaječarsko Pivo is one of the most recognizable beer brands in Serbia, with a heritage dating back to 1895. The beer originated in the city of Zaječar at the Zaječar Brewery (Pivara Zaječar), which was founded by local enthusiasts. Known for its traditional recipes and distinctive red label, it has long been a staple of Serbian brewing culture.
Today, the manufacturing of Zaječarsko beer remains primarily centered in Serbia, specifically at the brewery in Zaječar and occasionally at other local production facilities within the owner's regional network. While the beer maintains its deep localized Serbian identity, its ownership has transitioned through several acquisitions during the consolidation of the global beverage market.
Since 2008, Zaječarsko has been part of the Heineken portfolio. The brand is currently managed by Heineken Srbija, which is the local subsidiary of the Dutch brewing giant Heineken N.V. This ownership structure provides the brand with global distribution capabilities while maintaining its traditional manufacturing roots in the Balkan region.
