Ocun is a highly respected brand in the climbing world, known for its technical precision and innovative gear. The Ocun Jett QC (frequently confused with 'WC' but formally named 'QC' for Quick Closure) is a performance-oriented climbing shoe designed for climbers seeking a balance between comfort and precise footwork. Ocun's production is characterized by a strong commitment to European manufacturing, with the vast majority of their footwear being produced in-house in the Czech Republic. This local production ensures high quality control and supports the European craft tradition in climbing equipment.
The history of the brand dates back to the late 1980s and early 1990s in what was then Czechoslovakia. Pavel Habětín, the founder, began by making climbing harnesses under the Rock Pillars name before consolidating the footwear and hardware lines under the Ocun brand. Today, the brand remains independently owned and operated, maintaining its headquarters and development labs in the Czech Republic, where it continues to push the boundaries of materials science with its proprietary rubber compounds like CAT 1.5.
