Quicksilver is a legendary productivity and utility application exclusively available for macOS. Originally developed by Nicholas Jitkoff (under the name Blacktree, Inc.) in the early 2000s, it revolutionized the way users interacted with their computers by allowing them to perform complex actions through simple keyboard commands and a fuzzy-matching search interface.
In 2007, the project transitioned away from its commercial origins when Jitkoff released the source code under the Apache License. Since then, it has been maintained and developed by a dedicated community of open-source contributors around the globe. This shift ensures that the software remains free and adaptable, with manufacturing (coding and updates) decentralized across various countries where developers volunteer their time to the Quicksilver Project.
