Tunnock's is an iconic Scottish confectionery brand with a rich history dating back to 1890 when Thomas Tunnock purchased a bakery in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The brand's most famous creations, including the Caramel Wafer and the Teacake, were developed in the mid-1950s under the leadership of Archie Tunnock and his son, Boyd Tunnock. The Teacake specifically consists of a shortbread biscuit base topped with Italian meringue and covered in a thin layer of milk chocolate.

Unlike many other heritage food brands that have been acquired by multinational conglomerates, Tunnock's remains a fiercely independent family-owned business. Its manufacturing operations are still concentrated at the original site in Uddingston, where the factory has undergone several modernizing expansions to meet global demand.
