Arnott's Jatz: An Australian Pantry Staple

Arnott's Jatz is one of Australia's most iconic savoury biscuits, recognized for its distinctive malt flavour and salty finish. Originally launched in 1952, Jatz has grown to be a household name, often marketed as 'Australia's Favourite Cracker'. The product is synonymous with Australian social gatherings, frequently served with dips, cheese, or topped with classic ingredients like ham and tomato.

Ownership and Global Presence

While the brand is deeply rooted in Australian heritage and continues to manufacture the vast majority of its products within the country—using Australian-grown wheat—the ownership has transitioned several times. Originally a family-owned business started by William Arnott in 1865, it was later acquired by the U.S.-based Campbell Soup Company in 1997. In 2019, the brand was sold to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), a global investment firm. Despite these changes in corporate ownership, the brand maintains its identity as an Australian icon and continues to operate primarily out of its domestic facilities, such as the Huntingwood bakery in New South Wales.
