HAL Investments (HAL Trust)

HAL Investments is the investment subsidiary of HAL Holding N.V., a large international investment company based in the Netherlands. Its roots date back to the late 19th century with the founding of the Nederlandsch-Amerikaansche Stoomvaart-Maatschappij (NASM), which later became the Holland-Amerika Lijn (HAL), a famous shipping and passenger line.

In 1989, the company sold its shipping activities, specifically the Holland America Line cruise business, to Carnival Corporation. Following this major divestment, the company used the proceeds to transition into a diversified investment firm. Today, HAL maintains a long-term investment strategy, holding significant stakes in both listed and non-listed companies across various sectors including retail, infrastructure, media, and technology.

The firm is governed by HAL Trust, which is listed on Euronext Amsterdam. The majority of the trust's shares are held by the Van der Vorm family, making it one of the most prominent private investment entities in Europe. Its portfolio includes household names and industrial leaders such as Coolblue, Boskalis, and Safilo.
