Tupperware is one of the most iconic brands in the global kitchenware industry, famous for its hermetically sealed plastic containers. The brand was founded in the United States in 1946 by Earl Tupper, who developed the signature airtight 'Burping Seal' inspired by the design of paint can lids. The brand achieved massive cultural success through its 'Tupperware Party' direct-sales model initiated by Brownie Wise.
Manufacturing for Tupperware products is decentralized, with historical and active factories located in several countries including the United States, Mexico, Belgium, France, Greece, Korea, India, and Brazil to serve regional markets.
In recent years, the company has faced significant financial challenges. In late 2024, Tupperware Brands Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Moving into 2025 and beyond, the brand's ownership is transitioning to a group of its lenders (including Stonehill Capital Management and Alden Global Capital) who acquired the company's assets to continue operations under a new corporate structure.
