Vauxhall is one of the oldest and most established names in the British automotive industry, having transitioned from a pump and marine engine manufacturer to a car maker in 1903. For over 90 years, it was a major subsidiary of General Motors, often sharing platforms with the German brand Opel to serve the UK market with right-hand drive configurations. Current manufacturing remains tied to the UK, with major plants in Ellesmere Port and Luton, though production of specific models is distributed across European facilities to optimize efficiency.

In 2017, the brand underwent a significant structural change when it was acquired from General Motors by Groupe PSA. This was followed by a massive industry merger in 2021 that formed Stellantis, an automotive giant. Today, Vauxhall operates as part of a diverse portfolio of 14 brands, sharing advanced electric vehicle foundations and internal combustion technology with its sister brands. Despite these international shifts, Vauxhall maintains its distinct British identity and remains a leader in the United Kingdom's transition toward electric mobility.
