Läderach is a world-renowned premium chocolatier that has become synonymous with high-quality Swiss confectionery. Founded in 1962 in the canton of Glarus by Rudolf Läderach Jr., the company revolutionized the industry with the patent for thin-walled hollow chocolate spheres, which simplified the production of professional-grade truffles. Today, the brand is most famous for its 'Frischschoggi' (fresh chocolate), which is produced in large slabs and broken into irregular pieces for customers.

The entire production process is vertically integrated, with the company overseeing every step from the sourcing of cocoa beans to the final product in their own boutiques. All Läderach chocolate is manufactured exclusively at their production sites in Switzerland, specifically in Ennenda and Bilten. This centralized manufacturing ensures that their strict quality standards and 'freshness' promise are maintained for their 200+ chocolateries worldwide.

Ownership has remained strictly within the founding family for three generations. In 2018, Johannes Läderach took over the role of CEO from his father, Jürg, while his brother Elias Läderach—a World Chocolate Master—leads the creative and production aspects of the business. As of 2026, the brand remains an independent, family-owned Swiss enterprise with no external corporate parent or subsidiary ownership.
