Eszet Schnitten is a traditional German chocolate product consisting of thin, rectangular chocolate slices specifically designed to be eaten on bread as a breakfast or snack topping. First introduced in 1933, the brand name 'Eszet' is a phonetic spelling of the German letter 'S' and 'Z'.

Originally created by the Eszet-Kakao- und Schokoladenfabrik Staengel & Ziller in Stuttgart, the brand became a cult classic in Germany. In 1975, the brand was acquired by the Stollwerck company. After several corporate transitions involving various owners including Barry Callebaut, the brand eventually became part of the Katjes Group’s portfolio in 2002. Today, it remains a staple in the German confectionery market, manufactured locally and known for its distinctive thinness and variety of flavors.
