K-Salat is a household name in Denmark, widely recognized for its range of spreads and condiments. The brand was originally founded in Copenhagen in 1937 and has built its reputation on traditional recipes, including this classic mayonnaise. While the brand carries the heritage of the Danish capital, its production has long been centered in Havnelev on the island of Zealand, ensuring a local supply for the Danish market.

Over the decades, ownership of the brand has transitioned through several major food conglomerates. Historically part of the Norwegian Orkla Group, K-Salat was acquired by the Danish food company Stryhns in late 2017. Today, Stryhns is part of the larger Norwegian industrial investment group, Orkla ASA, which continues to manage the brand as a key player in the Nordic food sector.
