While many independent wineries and large cooperatives produce Lambrusco, the brand as a geographic entity is owned by the collective of Italian producers under the governance of local consorzi (consortiums).

In terms of global ownership, while no single company 'owns' the generic name Lambrusco, large beverage conglomerates like Gruppo Coltiva, Cavicchioli (owned by Gruppo Italiano Vini), and Riunite dominate the market. These entities ensure the continued presence of Lambrusco in international markets, maintaining its legacy as a versatile beverage ranging from bone-dry to very sweet styles.
