A QR Reader is a digital tool or software application designed to extract and interpret information encoded in Quick Response (QR) codes. Originally developed by Denso Wave, a subsidiary of Toyota, in 1994, the technology was intended for tracking vehicle parts during manufacturing. Today, QR readers are integrated into almost every smartphone camera and various standalone mobile applications worldwide.
While the original technology was invented in Japan, most modern implementation and hosting of QR reading software occur on global servers. The development of these applications takes place in multiple countries, predominantly in the United States, China, and Europe, depending on the specific developer or platform owner.
