Open vSwitch (OVS) OVSDB Protocol

The OVSDB management protocol is an open-source networking standard designed for configuring and managing Open vSwitch (OVS) instances. It was originally co-authored by Ben Pfaff and Bruce Davie while at Nicira, which was later acquired by VMware.

As part of the broader Open vSwitch project, the technology is maintained by a global community of developers. While the intellectual property originated within Silicon Valley's tech ecosystem, the code and protocol specifications are now part of the Linux Foundation’s Networking projects, ensuring multi-vendor governance and development.
