woom was founded in 2013 by Marcus Ihlenfeld and Christian Bezdeka in a garage in Klosterneuburg, Austria. Driven by the duo's passion for cycling and frustration with the weight of standard children's bikes, they developed a range of superlight, ergonomically optimized bicycles specifically designed for kids.

While the brand's research and development remain in Austria, the manufacturing is international. A significant portion of production was shifted to Poland in recent years to be closer to their primary European markets, though some components and assembly still occur in other global locations. The brand remains privately owned by its founders along with strategic investors, maintaining its reputation as a premium leader in the youth cycling industry.
