Lacta is a legendary Brazilian chocolate brand with rich historical roots dating back to 1912. Founded in São Paulo by a group of investors including Emile de Launoy, it significantly shaped the Brazilian candy market with iconic products like the Laka white chocolate bar shown here. During the mid-20th century, Lacta introduced the first white chocolate to the Brazilian market under the Laka name, which became an instant classic.
In 1996, the brand was acquired by Kraft Foods. Following a major corporate restructuring in 2012, Kraft Foods split into two separate entities, leading to the creation of Mondelez International. Today, Lacta operates as one of Mondelez's most vital powerhouse brands in the South American region. While the brand originated and maintains its strongest manufacturing base in Brazil through local factories, its corporate ownership is based in the United States.
