Founded in Manchester in 1908 by John Noel Nichols, Vimto was originally created as a health tonic known as 'Vim Tonic'. Its unique recipe, featuring a blend of grapes, raspberries, blackcurrants, and secret herbs and spices, gained massive popularity across the British Empire.

Today, Vimto is a global brand with a particularly strong presence in the Middle East and Africa. While its historical production center is in the United Kingdom, the beverage is manufactured in numerous locations worldwide through various licensing and bottling agreements to serve its international markets.

The brand remains under the ownership of Nichols plc, the original company founded by Nichols.
