AKG, originally Akustische und Kino-Geräte Gesellschaft m.b.H., is a legendary audio brand with a heritage rooted in Vienna, Austria. Founded in 1947, the brand became world-renowned for its high-quality professional microphones and headphones used in recording studios and broadcast facilities globally.
Over the decades, AKG's ownership has transitioned through several major corporate acquisitions. In 1994, it became a subsidiary of the American conglomerate Harman International Industries. The brand's reach expanded significantly in 2017 when Samsung Electronics acquired Harman, integrating AKG's acoustic engineering into a vast array of consumer electronics, including smartphones and tablets. Although its historical roots remain in Austria, modern AKG products are manufactured across a global supply chain, with major production facilities located in China and Vietnam to support worldwide distribution.
